More sad news: Arthur C. Clarke, visionary inventor and science fiction author, died today in his home in Sri Lanka. Clarke pioneered the concept of the geosynchronous orbit and communications satellites, as well as writing classic science fiction such as Rendezvous with Rama and 2001: A Space Odyssey, which Stanley Kubrick turned into the iconic movie of the same name.
